Poetry Friday Winter Olympic Haiku -- Original

It's only fair that since I did a Summer Olympics Haiku, that I do one for the Winter Games too. That is especially true since a "golden" opportunity presented itself this week. Ironically, it involves one of the people from my summer haiku.

Olympic Wisdom:
Nastia doesn't get mad
She just gets Evan

Unfortunately, I have not been following the Olympics well enough (okay, truth be told, hardly at all) to get the joke in your haiku, but I can tell there is one there, if only I had the background information!!!

Now I know how young readers feel when they come across allusions that are beyond their ken...

Laura and Carol, thanks for stopping by

Mary Lee, thank you too. The backgound is that after Evan Lysacek won the gold medal for men's figure skating, news surfaced that he is dating gold medal winner (Gymnastics in 2008) Nastia Liukin. It just fit so well into the old adage "Don't get mad, get even" that I couldn't resist.

Hee hee hee. I love puns.

Love this! Her name gives the whole haiku a kind of sinister feeling, in addition to the pun.
